February 14, 1923. Valentine's Day. My Grandmother, Nettie Sachs, mother of 6 children is riding in the back seat of a 1923 Hudson, traveling from Gary Indiana to East Chicago.
Suddenly, gunshots ring out.
Nettie is shot three times, once in the eye and twice in the stomach. She dies at 12:30 p.m. February 15, 1923.
Nettie was 37 years old. She lived only 25 years in America.
